The Reluctant Escort
Dec. 22nd, 2013 12:14 pmLuck smiles on the Knight.
Pfeifferkuchen canters along, carrying Lohengrin towards their now-shared home. The Raven's crows pursue at one point, encouraged by their eagerly awaited winter, but the Knight soon adjusts to shooting arrows from horseback. The mare doesn't seem worse for the battle.
Another group of despicable crows advance on a carriage just up ahead. They don't even make it to the back wheels. The Knight catches up to see if the occupants were aware of the danger only to find-
"Princess Tutu? What on earth would bring you out here at this time of year, highness?" he asks, the last part belatedly amending the question.
The Princess comes closer to the carriage door. "Sir Lohengrin? We're returning from a mission of charity."
Pfeiffer snorts and shakes her head while Lohengrin sighs. "An appreciated kindness but the Monstrous Raven will be spreading his wicked influence."
"That makes the kindness all the more important," Tutu answers.
"At the risk of your safety?"
"Isn't their safety more at risk?"
The Knight frowns. No wonder she and Prince Siegfried get along so well. No wonder she'll-
No. That's what I'm trying to stop.
"Hm. Still, you should be more aware of your undertakings."
Princess Tutu gives him a nod and a smile. "Thank you for your concern, Sir Lohengrin. I would be honored if you would escort my carriage, seeing as we're traveling the same way and all."
The Knight jerks his head back and his eyes widen. "Escort?"
"If you wouldn't mind."
He hesitates before giving her a bow of his head. "Very well, highness."
Luck smiles on the Knight if half-smirks count as smiles.
