"What do you think of Tutu?"

The Knight eyes the Prince briefly. Does he really want his answer to that? Siegfried ends up laughing at the reaction.

"I think you might be too concerned about that matter, my liege," Lohengrin replies.

"Do not misunderstand me, Lohengrin. I'm not about to forget that times are quite serious. But if we let the Monstrous Raven take away all of our joy, he will be victorious. We mustn't forget to live."

The Knight lowers his head. The Prince places his hand on his companion's shoulder.

"Lohengrin, we mustn't forget to live."

Lohengrin gives him a brief nod. "Still...my liege, I think pursuing Princess Tutu right now would not be wise."

"You think so?"

The Knight gives him another nod.

"I know you didn't care for her company before."

"I still might not care for her company now but that is not the only factor I'm taking into account."

Autor's words ring in the Knight's head: Lohengrin, Princess Tutu is tragically inconsequential. Once she confesses her love for the Prince, she vanishes.

"My liege, I want to lessen any suffering that may come to you."

The Prince weighs his Knight's words before going, "Nor do I wish to bring suffering to Tutu. You are sensible as I expect, Lohengrin. I often find you echo what I know to be true but still need to hear myself. Very well. We shall wait. Perhaps circumstances will be more favorable next spring."

Once the Prince is out of earshot, the Knight sighs, slight and soft.

Good. There's time now. True, it's only a modicum. But once summer fades and the Raven's beloved winter comes, the cruel, cold memories will only grow stronger. The fresh spring buds themselves will hide from his rimy mien. The courtesy of a Knight will not be enough for Tutu to bear his company and she will surely leave the castle, never to return.

The Princess will be safe from vanishing, the Prince will be safe from her love, and the Knight will not have to see anyone else suffer like his Elsa or himself again.
