Lohengrin enjoyed hunting in Heinrich's kingdom more than Siegfried's.

Siegfried frowned upon hunting, both as sport and a means for sustenance. He couldn't bear the thought of slaughtering innocent animals, animals he himself might have once saved from some untimely demise, just so that he might have dinner. The prince was practically a vegetarian. As a result, Lohengrin was given strict rules should he ever choose to bring fresh meat to the table.

For the most part, Lohengrin agreed with his liege. He's not one to senselessly kill animals. But the freedom of knowing those rules are not in place here was welcome, even if he would likely follow them out of habit anyway.

Lohengrin had no luck on this particular day; his pheasants got away from him. Little did he know as he washed up in a found stream that things were only going to get worse.

Looking back, the cygnets peacefully floating by should have clued him in. If the babies are around, surely the mother isn't far behind. And when the mother found him...

"Hey!"

The swan honked and relentlessly attacked the knight that dared come close to her babies.

"I meant no harm to your nest!" Lohengrin attempted to protest, though he knew it to be futile.

The swan bit his fingers and thwapped at him with her wings as he moved to get away. It was easier once his feet found dry land again, though it would take more than that to lose the waddling bird coming up fast behind him.

Once he reached his horse, however, she stayed back with her children. She gave him one more warning honk before seeing to them.

After that, Lohengrin never underestimated a swan again.
